Comment on Are Independents just embarrassed Republicans like Libertarians Apolitical and Moderates?
OwOarchist@pawb.social 2 weeks agoThey defined their political views on an issue by issue basis. The problem with picking a team is picking that identity and letting the party dictate what you should think. Being a proper independent takes more work. You have to read into each candidate not just pick a letter.
Okay, sure… But if you ever end up picking the Republican candidate, then you’re definitely not ‘progressive’.

Your correct I do in 99.5% of cases but depending on your location sometimes you only have the choice of Republicans then it goes into harm reduction mode. I have also had to vote for what I call ratchet democrats as they are put in power by corporate interests to stop any progress when dems are in power. I hold my nose as I do it but like I said at the end of the day its about harm reduction.

The concept of harm reduction when you’re trapped by the reality of the system you’re trapped in is lost on a lot of people and “all or nothing” is a virtue that can be spewed on the internet without actually living the consequences in real life. I know where I live that we’re going to end up with conservative leadership, which one is the least worst option? For all the calls for radical revolution and breaking the system we live under, nobody seems inclined to do what breaking that would take. So we limp along, reducing harm as best we can when we can.
