OrgunDonor@lemmy.world 1 week agoPretty sure that Sony is suing because the tariffs were deemed illegal. So if they win that, they are profiting off of illegally obtained money from consumers.
I might be wrong with the assessment of that, but also not American or really following it.

The problem will be intent. They had no intent to commit a crime. They obeyed the “law” ( the tarrifs were executive order and not law and that’s why they were illegal ) and when they found out the law was illegal, they want money.
We as consumers get screwed. I don’t think this lawsuit will be won, but they can hope for Sony to settle and those in the suit get like $5 or something laughable, while the attorneys of the suit raking in A LOT of money. But only of the attorneys can get money.
So no. Consumers will basically get fucked over once again.
