“Just asking questions” had become the go-to response for people who are being utter dicks about something until they’re proven wrong or someone stands up to em.
It’s like the mild equivalent of someone saying “it’s just a prank bro”

Asking questions and “just asking questions” are two different things in this context. “Why are Jews overrepresented in the media and banking industries?” is a perfectly valid and normal question. If you’re asking it with the intent to understand the sociopolitical context behind this factual statement, that’s good. If you’re asking it to try and push a narrative about Jews being in control of the world, that’s bad.
