Or jump across the trail your riding and almost give you a heart attack.

Man, I hate white tailed deer. People think they’re precious until they run straight into your car thinking they can just pass through it.

The only good thing about them is that they are not moose.
JayDee@lemmy.world 1 week ago
Or until you’re explained just how much damage they’re doing to forest ecosystems by overbreeding and destroying native plant life. They’re becoming a locust-level issue.

Overbreeding. They’re doing what they do, what they’re supposed to do. It’s not their fault all their predators and 9/10ths of their ecosystem have been removed.
JayDee@lemmy.world 1 week ago
It’s not really about fault at this point, it’s about solving the issue and bringing the ecosystem back into equilibrium. Like any pest, it’s natural to put ire towards the group of organisms actively causing something to deteriorate, and thus sympathy goes away. This makes eliminating them much much easier for locals.

You can say the same about people. They problem does not change just because its not human.
alekwithak@lemmy.world 1 week ago
I don’t see which part of my comment implies that I don’t feel that way about humanity, nor how it’s relevant. Humanity was able to coexist just fine for thousands of years. These issues were caused by capital.

Oh aye, I know of that, but the average USA citizen doesn’t care about the environment worth a damn to do anything about it. So it’s easier to tell them you’ll likely wreck into a deer more often because of their over population and utter stupidity.

Release the wolves! Chuck Fenrir or Garmr if you have to, fuck them deer.
