What you describe is not unique to this game. Would you pay for this if it was a DLC to Forza 5? I see it as “more content”, but with a new game engine and setting. I don’t think that every new entry of a game in a series needs to revolutionize. I am okay with a new style or setting, with slight improvements and lots of new content. That’s what a new entry in a series should be (at least for racing games). As long as it is not like the yearly sports game updates FIFA in example.
And it’s alright to talk about stuff you want to, to get it out of your chest. This is a forum and a perfectly valid place (so a game review would be too). It’s good to see what other people are bothered with, because it could be a reason not get into in example. I never played Horizon game before, so cannot judge how it feels for you. For me, this is the first time I’m really really interested into the game series, as I (and many others) love the Japan setting.

Yeah it’s been pretty much the same game since Horizon 3 with new maps. All of the menus were the same, with different UI and all of the background processes were the same. I’m hoping they finally changed some stuff with 6, especially after so much of a gap, but I’m not holding my breath. It’ll be cool to be in a new map for the first time in a while.

I’m not really indepth familiar with the series. But if every new entry feels like a simple DLC, then I can understand why people get upset. While I do not expect a revolution with every new entry, they should be distinct in some ways. At least after multiple entries. The engine improves, new console generations and new developers.
What I expect is, same engine and developers from Horizon 5, but with new setting. As someone who never got into the series before, this is actually exactly what I want!

I played the fuck outta the last two, but they were basically the same game. From what I’ve seen, not a lot has changed. There’s other driving games out there doing new things, so I have no incentive to start playing horizon 6.
The weekly challenges started feeling more like a chore than a fun experience, and the more or less required multiplayer races were usually awful. It would almost always be me and one other decent racer and the other 4 guys were garbage, you could lose the series even getting first in all the races because your team sucked so hard. I would often take an early lead then use my car to block the CPU cars, then after my teammates all got a solid lead I’d start racing again and usually get back into first.

Agreed about the weekly challenges. Horizon 5 became my most played Horizon game solely because my buddy and I went for 40 points every single week until new cars started being recycled, then we stopped. By the middle of it, we’d log in, rush to do the weekly stuff, often getting stuck on The Trial for several attempts, finally get the 40 and just quit for the week because we were out of time. It was definitely more of a chore. I only started having fun with the game again after it came out on PS5 which, funnily enough coincided with the end of new cars being added to the game. No more weekly anything, finally just playing for fun again.
And now it’s time to do it all over again.
