Does it? When brownshits can extrajudicially shoot innocents in the face without consequence “legal” and Public opinion loses much of its meaning.

Public opinion is the difference between some random white dudes being sympathathetic and randomly interfering with ICE, and people forming mobs that actively hunt down immigrants
Right now public opinion on ICE is terrible, especially in democratic strongholds… which is why I as a nonwhite immigrant I was able to avoid get harassed by ICE or xenophobic mobs for over a year since he took office
If public opinion on immigrants goes down… if people start beliving in those xenophobic rhetotics… I could get lynched by my neighbors
