They’re designed to be field stripped using only a bullet as a tool. Not many designs are any simpler.
Get yourself a nice Ruger 10-22,
Now THAT is a pain in the balls to field strip and clean (comparatively) . But I agree, 10/22s are awesome and make a far more practical first gun for anything other than going to war.
