The actual formula is subtract 32 and multiply by 5/9.
But this is a lot easier, and is very close for all temps you’ll encounter as weather.

No, it’s not true. Another has the actual formula, but the proof that it’s incorrect is that 32°F = 0°C, while (32-30)/2 = 1.

Not good enough for chemistry, but for daily use. But I’d rather convert it with a calculator and double check the conversion if it needs to be that precise, than to calculate it by hand
