  1. in an urban environment, predators are usually more scarce than in rural environments, and the ones that do live in urban areas won’t touch any prey animal if there’s a human nearby.

  2. there are people putting them in safe places, that may include safe from predators too.

  3. A lot of predators are nocturnal (foxes, owls)

    There were coyotes that hunted the bznks of the large creek that ran behind my house. They would often chase prey into the neighborhood, but they would never pursue, they would figure out ways to go around. They also would hunt in packs during the winter and even then. they never came into neighborhoods or yards.
