You absolutely can, yes. Some even have streaming movies.

Yeah I get the kanopy streaming service through my local library. It’s awesome.

I don’t know why more people don’t know about these. For anyone reading, look up the apps Kanopy and Libby.

Streaming movies are not even close to things libraries can offer. My wife is working on opening a new branch in another part of town where there are a lot of poor and homeless people. There will be a room with a sign-up sheet. One person at a time and a lockable door from the inside. It contains a shower, a washer and a dryer. Anyone can sign up for free.

My wife listens to audiobooks almost every day and she gets all of them through the library. She hasn’t paid for an audiobook in years.

The teen room at my wife’s library has a PS4 and an XBox (not sure which one) for teens to play as long as they want. The TV it’s on is huge. The game library isn’t massive, but it’s respectable.

Libraries are amazing! They have books, movies, magazines, study rooms, computers with internet! Some have makers spaces. There could be a 3d-printer to use, sewing machines, other tools and items! And then there’s the classes and events the library holds. A reading club, craft activities, kids groups, read-alouds, theme nights. And more! Libraries can connect you to services and legal help.
Libraries are just a physical format of Google. They lead you to the information and things you need if you just ask :)
