This. They need some form of actual income, and ad revenue gives them theoretical capital to loan against.
The disconcerting thing is that in LLMs, the ads don’t need to be signposted, advertisers can just pay to bias the LLM. You’ll have Big Pharma paying to bias the LLM into telling people they need meds.
