One of my favorite movies! Hate the prequel (it’s shitty CGI)
Terrible film, moral of the story is learn other languages if you’re working in a polyglot place
The whole first scene of the original was the Norwegian guy screaming about the monster and the yank base chief just shoots him instead of the randomly appearing dog
What movie is it?
John Carpenters “The Thing” (1982) - very atmospheric and tense horror movie with some of the best practical special effects ever

The worst part about it is that they had all those things made in practical effects and ready to go before the studio told them to do it in cgi to show off the new tech. You can see behind the scenes where they show off some of the real things.

Yes, I believe it was Stan Winston’s effects studio. A real shame.
