understandable, at this point I'm not spending a lot of time on lotide and I don't think other implementations are really testing against it. I haven't even really been using it myself, and my recent attempt to start was just in time to run into an issue with follows to Lemmy instances (sent them a PR, hopefully will be fixed in their next release, but until then I guess we just can't follow new communities...)

That said, I do plan to start dogfooding better, especially given that Reddit seems to be dying now. I hadn't heard of kbin until quite recently so haven't tested that at all, hopefully should be able to get any issues there resolved. Nice to have another player in the space

I'm greedy, so I like the idea of being able.to subscribe to damn near anything you can follow. In particular, besides groups and communities and magazines, I like the idea of following a peertube channel too.

That said, my experience is pretty minimal so I don't know if I'm breaking things when I try to change things.

  following non-groups is something I'd like to have eventually (https://todo.sr.ht/~vpzom/lotide/56) but it will introduce a lot of complexity and there are a lot of more "core" features still missing that would have higher priority to me

The main federation issues I'm seeing so far are with Rebased (a fork of Pleroma) and Kbin. There are also some federation issues with Beehaw which is running Lemmy, I'm not sure if there was some sort of update though that broke federation with Lotide or not.

On rebased, posts usually won't load anymore, and if they do, comments from Pleroma or Rebased instances don't federate properly. Mastodon seems to work perfectly fine though for some reason.

On Kbin, nothing loads properly at all. I can't follow any remote communities from Kbin.

I'll definitely keep my account here though and poke my head in now and again, even if I make a main account somewhere else. It'd be nice to have a Hacker News / lobsters-type Reddit alternative to recommend for the Fediverse.
