Sometimes when my room is very cold, I sleep with socks on, though the rest usually stays off.

List is incomplete. It seems to assume a relatively warm climate or expensive use of night-time home heating.
Thus: Long sleeves. Underwear under long trousers perhaps for sanitary purposes, but possibly for comfort.
There's probably also a few people who have socks they wear to bed if not also blindfolds or old-timey nightcaps, but I get why those things aren't in this graphic. Lack of long sleeves is more of a head-scratcher.

Solution: more blankets. Where I grew up we had regular frosts all through winter, but I never really went with anything more than 18. 2-3 blankets and a thick duvet does a lot for keeping you warm.

Yeah except it gets that much more difficult to get up when everything around you is fucking freezing.

My blankets are always stolen in the middle of the night by someone who needs to be swaddled and rolled like a burrito. I used to have “emergency blanket” under the bed for after the blankets were stolen, but that didnt always make it back, or itd get taken too.
Also the (2) 70 lb dogs sneak into bed and dont wake me up until i can no longer move the blanket. And waking the 13 year old dog up to move him is only going to disturb my partner, so its not worth it.
So like i tell me kids, control what you can control. I now sleep in sweats, and sometimes even with a robe on because thats basically a blanket that cant be stolen

More blankets don’t help the moment you get out of bed in the morning. The apartment was unheated for much of the winter during my teenage years, so I usually wore two pairs of thick woolen socks and thick woolen PJs (along with a thick duvet and several blankets) so I wouldn’t freeze to death the moment I got out of bed. The period between rushing out of bed and into an 8 ply woolen bathrobe was still painful though.
