@simon_greenwood@offworld.fedisonic.cloud @choyer@mastodon.social @fediversenews@venera.social Do you run calckey on Yunohost too?
simon_greenwood@offworld.fedisonic.cloud 1 year ago
@choyer
I got stuck with that and couldn't find logs that would give me a clue, but I suspect it was because the mail server was in the same network (possibly DNS as it's always DNS), but I haven't looked any further. I'd like to know how to enable logging when I do though.

I'd set that instance up from the Ubuntu install script. I've since set it up with Yunohost but haven't investigated further.

@simon_greenwood@offworld.fedisonic.cloud @fediversenews@venera.social @choyer@mastodon.social I've run it as direct installation on my server. Now I switched to docker container, since I don't have to install all the requirements on the host system. Do you have docker knowledge? Then I'd share the configuration.

@moon
Yes I do, but I'll come back to it in a couple of weeks, on me holidays at the moment :)

@moon @fediversenews @simon_greenwood Unfortunately I have as much tech knowledge as I could get as a non-techie (which isn’t too much). Hence, Yunohost.

@simon_greenwood @fediversenews Since I couldn’t get it to send anything with local sendmail, I actually set up an external Mailserver with mailbox.org, just to get over this and it sent exactly one mail, silence since. I am running out of ideas (and patience).

@choyer
Since my ISP is blocking port 25, I had to set up an email relay in Yunohost. Maybe Mailbox.org does not allow this.

@zeitverschreib @choyer @simon_greenwood @fediversenews This is common practice here for consumer circuits, block 25 and 80. In the past it was possible to re-enable this in router settings or at worst getting a Tier 2 support person to allow it. Now? No idea. I pony up for the symmetrical at home these days, and no longer have to think about it. Yes, my use case is MY use case, and it’s worth it to me. Ymmv. I hope you find a solution.

If they're blocking port 25, they are not an Internet Service Provider.

@johntimaeus
At least in Germany, that's kind of a standard.

@zeitverschreib @simon_greenwood @fediversenews I didn’t actually do a relay in YunoHost (although I believe Mailbox would allow it, I just put my mailbox Smtp server and mailbox address and login directly in the env.production file.

@simon_greenwood @fediversenews Talking of Mastodon, not Calckey, just for clarification.
simon_greenwood@offworld.fedisonic.cloud 1 year ago
@choyer
That's more odd, for me, Mastodon worked out of the box with a similar configuration. That could come down to sending problems so make sure your domain/host is set up to send properly with an SPF record etc.
