More nasturtium flowers are coming up, three full blown and one budding. The alyssum have started blooming.
I regret choosing such low maintenance plants though. It made sense. The pumpkins would honestly have been way too much work. But at least when I have plants to care for itās another thing that occupies my mind and pulls it back into the real world, rather than being so much on the internet.
I feel like the internet is becoming weirder and meaner.

Thereās an idea

I threw a bunch of cardboard over the grass to keep it down while I couldnāt be bothered with it. Then the nasturtiums moved in and have covered the area.

I still have some red kangaroo paw seeds but those get bigger and I think are perennial

Yes kangaroo paw is perennial, and doesnāt like being transplanted much. Best planted in a big pot so itās roots can go deep down like itās supposed to. Drought hardy once established.
Also, nasturtium flowers and buds are edible - quite a nice tangy taste and so pretty in a salad. The very young buds can be pickled and taste like capers. Leaves not edible tho.

Itās a real shame I canāt start a little native garden in the bare patch with a small birdbath in the middle.
But random destructive people canāt seem to stop themselves trespassing or keep their hands to themselves.
