I heard there’s something to do with batteries getting cold and delivering less power that makes smoke alarms go off, and why it only happens at night time.
It’s similar to blutak getting cold and losing its adhesive strength which is why posters only ever fall off your wall at night time as well.

That is not fun. My brand new one did that once, I was worried it was faulty but it never repeated it.
Do you know how old the detector is? It could also be a sign it’s getting old and needs to be replaced.

You are absolutely correct! I took it down and on the back it says it’s from 2014, it’s as old as Miniest! So guess who’s going to grab a couple of new ones on the way home… Funny thing is, someone from the council came through and “checked” them less than a year ago as part of my MILs home care package 🙄I think the “check” involved them “checking” a box on a clipboard, if you know what I mean 😂 And they weren’t supposed to just check they were present, they were checking the devices themselves 🤦🏼♀️
