Fecal matter entering the rectum triggers the need.
A high fiber diet keeps you regular to the point where your colon doesn’t do an emergency dump just because some neurotransmitters got upitty.
It’ll try, mind you, but the goal is going more regularly in the first place so there’s not as much to push out all once.
