Oh absolutely. Instead of fighting the establishment, political discourse has devolved into “Oh you don’t like Person A? Then you must be a FASCIST who is licking Person B’s boots!”

“Oh if you don’t vote Person A, that means Person B will win and they’ll take away our rights”
Keep in mind Person A is marching slowly to fascism, Person B is sprinting to it, Person C is actively moving away from it but no one wants to vote for them because they must vote for Person A or Person B will win”

And keep in mind that as long as everybody thinks that way, nothing will ever get fixed in this country. Both Team Red and Team Blue know what’s up. They know people will defend their side and demonize the other, while they’re all taking care of the billionaires and laughing all the way to the bank.
The lesser of two evils is still evil.

What’s the answer then? Because it can’t just be finding a 3rd party president and hoping he gets enough votes from both sides. They would just steal the election from them like they did Gore. And even if they did win, the president is mostly just a figurehead to distract the population. The real answer would be starting a grassroots 3rd party and winning elections starting at the school department and selectman and working your way up… but it’s so easy for those things to be co-opted.
