The baby is on their back. Their face is pointing up. It doesn’t seem to be old enough to crawl away, so I don’t think there’s a danger of the baby rubbing their face on the floor. The mom stepping on it or kicking it accidentally seems plausible.

That was a bit of hyperbole on my part.
The baby has hands, the hands are on the floor, the hands are soon to be in the baby’s mouth. That’s what I was getting at. When a baby is on the floor, floor dirt will be getting in the baby’s mouth.
