V17@kbin.social 7 months agoWell the rules are pretty clear in that you can call other people's ideas stupid, but not other people stupid. Personally I prefer spaces with hands-off moderation and focus on free speech, but those generally don't work in a general discussion platform without any implicit gatekeeping to keep idiots away, so I'm giving this style a chance and so far the results have been far better than most places on Reddit on Lemmy.

So it’s ok to say that a whole group of people is stupid or that they don’t have the capacity for creative efforts as long as you’re not saying that about someone you’re replying to? Is that your defense of this? This person didn’t say this about the group’s ideas, he said it about them as people.
If you’re going to moderate a platform, it should actually be moderated evenly.
