I love syntax and I really struggle to parse this. They didn’t do anything after they died so this didn’t make much sense for me but the subclause is referring to the remembering

There’s a word for “things a person did that can be remembered after they die;” legacy.

Shit, I don’t know if I can work that in though. I know a legacy can be bad but people rarely use it in a negative connotation

Maybe a simpler way would be “my reaction when terrible people die”
