Well I had a deep cleaning like this recently due to many years of poor hygiene and it was performed by the dentist.
I have to go back in 3 months to see the hygienist.

Wrong, that would be the dental hygienist. Dentists rarely perform standard cleanings as pictured.

Who says he’s cleaning though? It just says he’s about to “start on her teeth”, this could be an operation or an investigation into a complaint or anything else that a dentist would do.

If their hand slips when using the polishing thingy and hit your gums, it can definitely hurt through no fault of your own.
