I’m all for using other things, but the reality is that YouTube has a de facto monopoly on video hosting on the internet. If you want reach on the internet, it’s YouTube or basically nothing. Therefore YouTube is the best place to get YouTube users upset at YouTube.
Other companies which could compete with YouTube on scale host porn and choose not to make a “clean” version to compete.

This is, however, a sulf-fulling prophecy. As long as people maintain that mentality the cycle can never be broken.

Totally. It’s network effects, really. People will only leave if the content or people they follow leave. And right now there aren’t many good platforms which comparably pay creators based on watch time / play count of static media, so the creators won’t leave.
