- Comment on Why doesn't Food Network do product placement in there shows? Would they not earn more money by a host saying I use this hot sauce name drop but you can use whatever? 2 days ago:
Over here in the Netherlands TV channels are also required to show a notice about product placement. Of course I already know most channels to skip, but it is nice to have.
- Comment on How do phone scammers work? I get them trying to get another persons money. But how do they get all the info and now can do voice fakes. I highly doubt they just pick a random person and say fuck them 2 weeks ago:
I guess nowadays you don’t even need to be monitored like that anymore. Just feed a social media profile into chatgpt and have it summarise vulnerable attack vectors.
Maybe not chatgpt but a local model would happily do that.
- Comment on Cant install app on android 2 weeks ago:
Unfortunately the app developer themselves have decided to only allow installs from the play store. Not much you can do about that, though I wonder if that’s something revanced could possibly patch out of the apk.

Oh shit nice I had no idea this subdomain exists, guess I’ll finally be rid of those stupid ai answers in private windows as well!
- Comment on YouTube's ID Verification Has BEGUN! 5 weeks ago:
Oh neat, I had no idea piefed did that. Can confirm it’s not visible in thunder for Lemmy at least.

Where’s the piped link?
- Comment on OpenAI releases a free GPT model that can run on your laptop 1 month ago:
I mean yeah, but that doesn’t make the title any lore true.
- Comment on Valve gets pressured by payment processors with a new rule for game devs and various adult games removed 2 months ago:
I think Wero is supposed to become the replacement for all of that, though I’m not sure if it’s gonna have similar features. For now it’s only available in a few countries unfortunately.
- Comment on Thank you, Thor! 2 months ago:
It can alsoake fes that perform way worse than they have anything to. See yandere simulator for example
- Comment on Another reason to love Linux 2 months ago:
Pretty sure both windows and macos allow programs to interrupt shutdown, usually if there’s any unsaved documents open. I quite like that feature actually, if it’s used correctly anyway.
- Comment on I hate Samsung and their dumb software design choices, and this is one of them. Why do I need a SIM card to enable a hotspot whereas every other phone works without one? 3 months ago:
Well to be fair, on my pixel at least, those are literally the same setting. Which it actually is just depends on if you’re currently on WiFi or not. Kinda Google’s fault for labelling it like that.
- Comment on Diagrams 3 months ago:
In Thunder, the preview is super blurry and unreadable, but once opened it looks fine.
I’m pretty sure the reddit app I used to use (Relay) had the same issue.
- Comment on Helldivers 2 and Palworld devs wish players understood that 'easy' additions and updates are sometimes really hard: 'That's half a year's work. That takes six months' 3 months ago:
Even if you’re an actual software dev, it’s still pretty much impossible to guess how much work something is without knowing the codebase intimately.
- Comment on Regularly 4 months ago:
How about both. One’s the cause, the other’s the symptom. Both are bad. But you, personally, can stop using the stuff that’d destroying the environment right now, while fixing capitalism is going to take a lot longer.

You could also just… not update.

Yeah if they get a warrant they’re 100% just handing over all the data
- Comment on The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered Mods Have Already Been Published Online 4 months ago:
Lol that’s it? That’s hardly inconvenient at all, just gotta make sure you don’t publish broken shit I guess
- Comment on Puma picks colors and shades at random it seems. 5 months ago:
I do, not by colour but by “type” I guess. Mostly so I don’t get one long and one short sock, or one wool and one bamboo or whatever. Cause my autistic ass can’t handle having two different feels lol.
Nowadays I just try to bulk buy the same socks, so soon this hopefully won’t be a problem anymore.
- Comment on Why do people see me as far older than 19 when I type the way I do sometimes?/Why do people think full stops are rude? 6 months ago:
French evolves: it has a committee to weed out stupid.
How are you going to stop people from using these “stupid” evolutions? That’s just not how language works. If this is really something France does, I’d imagine what they’d end up with is dictionaries that don’t at all match how people really speak.
- Comment on Nintendo loses trademark fight against Super Mario supermarket 7 months ago:
There was this coffee corner near us when we went on holiday to Greece, called the Super Mario Coffee Kiosk.
I’m still surprised Nintendo hasn’t tried to sue them yet, they even ripped off the logo and Mario himself.

I think rumours about the price tag were already going before the trailer even came out lol.

- Comment on GTA 6 will have a 'significant online mode' to generate revenue for years into the future 9 months ago:
I believe one person acts as the host. That’s why sometimes it’ll kick you out of a session sometimes and start loading again, that means the host has left and someone else needs to take over.
- Comment on Are there any actual free programs that clean up all bloat ware on a new laptop? Without them putting hidden stuff in? 9 months ago:
This is a good one, been using it for years if I ever need to install Windows for some godforsaken reason.
- Comment on Why do we use the term Ban when it's temporary? Why not the more accurate, Suspension? 9 months ago:
I’ve always felt like “ban” is more like a manual operarion, you’re banned until someone manually unbans you. While a kick or suspension expires on its own.
- Comment on Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024's launch has been marred by long load times, server issues and now it has overwhelmingly negative reviews 9 months ago:
There is a nearly zero percent chance that the game developers are also cloud experts
Well yeah, that’s why you would put some cloud experts on the project besides the game devs if you’re doing things like this. It’s not just game developers working on the game.
Doesn’t even have to be people feom the Azure team. Microsoft has plenty of resources to teach someone to be a cloud expert in other branches, they even offer certifications for outside people, surely they can manage a few of their own.
- Comment on Anon takes the horsepill 10 months ago:
In the Netherlands you’re just not allowed to participate in traffic while drunk, so technically you’re not even allowed to bike. No one gives a shit about that one though.
