Soaps and oils and no airflow. Hang cloths out of the closet the day before you wear (or rewear) them. Hangout outside not in direct sunlight works even better.
And to original OP, any dust added that day will shake off.

I don’t know why clothes that have sat around for a long time get funky but I don’t think it’s dust per se. Keeping clothes in a drawer generally keeps dust off of them but they still get funky.

Dehumidifier in the summer, particularly in basement areas, is a good idea as well. The AC will lower humidity, but depending on your setup may not fully lower it to the right level.
