My landlord has approved my garden request, with a 2m height restriction on permanent plants. Sadly that rules out the 3m dwarf flowering gum I was contemplating, but otherwise fits my plans perfectly. Now I can start making some more detailed plans and get to work digging.

I also like the idea of being able to leave a nice garden as a legacy of my time here. There are so many awful gardens around here, with fake grass and lots of stones, or just weeds. Being a new estate there is not many established plants, so being able to plant some natives that will support birds will hopefully provide some habitat for a long time. Plus a couple of citrus trees and herbs will help to support people long into the future too.
