Doesn’t that gun not engage the electronic firing mechanism if you don’t authenticate via fingerprint? Or am I thinking of a different one?

On DoD approved safes the time to defeat it is listed. If you’re willing to make noise you can beat them in as little as 30m.

I agree. That’s why their should be as many “complications”, as possible. The struggle is making an easily accessible gun, that isn’t accessible to others. It’s a bit of puzzle.
