Bitwarden is web based. You can access your passwords from anywhere. Keepass stores a local database on your device so if you want to use it on other devices you have to sync it yourself.
Comment on Are you fucking kidding me?! I hate anything that requires verification and codes!
gigachad@piefed.social 13 hours agoI use KeePass. What is the advantage of bitwarden over KeePass?

I’m not an expert on keepass. Bit warden is open source and free though (unless you want to get 2fa). I’m sure there are comparisons between the two out in the wild Internet

KeePass is too. But it has no cloud support. However, I actually prefer this, just syncing may password database between my devices using syncthing. I read that bitwarden seems to have a bit more modern UI and is easier to use, but as I am used to KeePass I am happy with it. I guess both solutions are fine!

Yeah, both are fine. I switched away from KeePass because I was using Dropbox to take care of device sync, and it just didn’t feel right. Switching to Bitwarden was awesome for me because I self host it (Vaultwarden). It’s only accessible inside my home network, so mobile devices use a cached copy. If I need to add a new entry while away from home I can connect via VPN.

If you’re the kind of person who already uses keepass, probably nothing. Most of the time it’s best to just recommend bitwarden and not mention keepass, because the ux and auto sync make it better for average skilled users and the lazy.
