I make my own batches of chilli oil, itâs really easy but as said not super hot. More chilli with subtle chai spices.

These chilli oils are generally designed to be tasty but not necessarily very hot. I used to eat lao gan ma out of the jar and this stuff is probably not as spicy (this brand appears to be marketed at westeners).
I did get one made locally brand at some Asian shop a couple years ago that was definitely on the much hotter side. Wish I remembered the name. Took me over a year to finish it. Strong onion presence which I love

Unfortunately the 2 Lt grim reaper paste is unavailable so heâs been trialing all these other sauces and oils for just a hint of heat and has not succeeded. Heâs buying birdâs eyes like you wouldnât believe. Iâm living with a chilli addict.
