Seems every time I find some curtains I like they turn out to be made in India by probable near slaves. Either I stop investigating or put it back on the DIY list? Gah, I fucking hate sewing slippery shear things.

Masking tape is your friend here.

Er, please explain? Like tape the hems and sew through it?

Pretty much. Basically put a strip of masking tape along the cut edges, stitch to the seam allowance then rip off the tape from each side of the seam line. Holds the fabric flat and the feed dogs grip very well on it. Then it unzips beautifully. Use painters tape or masking tape as they leave no residue. Tape can be marked with biro for matching pieces together before seaming. Doesn’t work too well for rolled hems though. But for doing sheer curtains or other flat seaming it’s a game changer.

That is a bloody good idea. Thank you!
