its still 1 hour and 20 minutes on the train from melbourne. my place isnt much better obviously, but my mrs works in our suburb so its even when I’m in the city someone is close to home if something goes wrong and kiddo needs us.

I haven’t been to Ballarat in many many years. What’s it like now?
It seems so much bigger and I think it has a lot of what I need in terms of moving back to Melbourne (well Victoria) and housing prices is within my budget. It also has gymnastics and other things my little one would want to continue doing so it definitely sounds appealing on paper.

That would be the only issue. If something happens, there wouldn’t be anyone else to be able to get her. I’d (hopefully) be teaching in the area.

Quite nice. Has a country town feel, but large enough to be it’s own thing.
It gets coooold in the winter though. Like significantly colder than Melbourne metro.
Recent years it’s become slightly hipsterised (more younger people moving there) which is great.
Closer to the city than Bendigo, and more chilled out than Geelong (IMO)

Cold certainly ain’t an issue.

It’s a good location. It can be a little dodgy but so are other places. Everything you need is there. If you need to travel to Melbourne regularly the drive can get boring but you can always use V/Line. I go there more than the city because you can always get a park.
