Comment on Why the Epic Games Store was hated during it's early existence?

Oh, it’s still hated.
Epic couldn’t make a superior product, so instead they bribed lots of game developers to make things Epic exclusive.
On top of that, even after being around for years, the Epic software is missing tons of features that Steam has had for years.
Epic bleeds obscene amounts of money to build a separate set of infrastructure, rather than actually trying to improve things for gamers.

It’s also the reason I have 100s of games on epic and have never spent a dime on epic. When I like a game I by it on steam.

I never even bothered to make an Epic account to get the free games. I have so many games on Steam and GOG already, and I do most of my gaming with a Steam Link on my TV.

I do it so the devs get paid and I get to try games before I pay for them. I would never use their app I use heroic instead.

Fuck Epic. I just lost the ability to play rocket league because they bought the developers, ripped it off of steam, and now force you to agree to some wickedly invasive TOS to have an epic account.

They also immediately remove Linux support for Rocket League when they bought it, IIRC

They try to sell this image of being open platform suing Apple and Android, but then refuse to actually properly support something like Linux. And then remain quiet about cuts when it comes to Xbox and Playstation.
