Comment on Should we respect all of our techers ? But why ?

Yes. You should treat every one with dignity and decency and politeness and all that, but in the context of teachers getting respect from students because they’re teachers…. It’s a different thing.
In the former, it’s basic decency. The latter is something more- obedience and acceptance. For teachers they should be respectable. Many aren’t. But they should be worthy of the respect… and kids should give it. When teachers prove unworthy…
Same with cops. Cops should be worthy of respect. And you should give it. But the reality is ACAB and I ain’t giving that respect.

It all boils down to: Whoever gets to make the rules will make sure that those rules benefit themselves, once someone new gets to make the rules, they will only change the rules if it’s no longer beneficial to the ruler.
Old people said respect your elders, young people hated it but got old and decided they wanted THEIR turn. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Eh. there are teachers who deserve respect. a great deal of respect. I have three or four that stand to mind. The kind of teachers that move mountains to help their students.
IMO respect must be earned. you don’t get it just because you elected to follow a career. which brings us back- teachers should have earned and continue earning that respect… and students should give it. its not rocket science. Well, actually, [Only Good Math Teacher I had] was teaching rocket science. because it got us interested. But, usually it’s not. details.

Oh there are tons of teachers who deserve respect, but it’s because of their actions NOT their title.
