  Frankly, the buyers truing to get them to take a smaller buyout before firing makes it clear they’re doing what they can to avoid paying it. At the same time, the way the incentive was setup both parties were of course going to try to win here. No one who has 250m is going to part with it without a fight. And vice-versa.

  Hindsight is 2020, but the reward structure should have never been setup based an arbitrary deadline but instead on a total level of success

  I mean, they’re still doing the exact same shit, just a little more transparent about it: Treat your customers differently based on if they’re new or not. Basically these plans just make it more obvious to customers. If you don’t cancel your plan yearly and resubscribe as a new subscriber, you have to pay an extra $180 a year. Simple as that. And you still have to do that every 5 years.

  Honestly it’s insane. Esp the I still have to cancel after 5 years to keep not getting fucked.

  Valve really needs to offer some sort of hardware attestation so the steamdeck can actually offer anticheat. As long as people can compile their own kernels any game has already lost from the start

  Google continues to do everything they can to close android down and force everyone to use their os. Imo this is a direct attack on graphene OS and anyone based on aosp. Now for every release developers will have to manually merge basically an unusable mess of changes.

  Great! Competition is wonderful.

  To be fair, I think the true heart of steamos (besides arch and just being great) is what they’ve done for proton, which all of these alternative distros benefit greatly from and make them feasible. It’s like X or Wayland. Proton is just foundational (thank you wine) to gaming on Linux being successful. So even if they don’t spend the time to support other handhelds running steamos, they really are with what they’ve done with proton.

  Agreed terrible. Tldr: In the same way that dead space defined a genre of horror shooters, Hades defined a class of rogue likes. The makers of calysto protocol are using that formula in a new game codenamed project Birdseye.

  And it looks fun!

  Yeah but they don’t control the app store, the customer does and most customers will require Google play. And agreed. 2+ weeks is plenty of time to test properly.

  This could have all been mitigated with a staged rollout, which they could have paused after the crash was identified. Preventing new users from getting it.
