- Comment on Introducing PCSX2 2.0! 5 months ago:
I hope I can now play all buzz games, some of them had the problem that the blue button was continuously pressed and you couldn’t play the game.
- Comment on The theory that we live in a simulation involves simulants running their own simulations; wouldn't that require impossibly more resources for the main sim? 5 months ago:
Just to spin this a bit further, if we are living in a simulation, does it have a purpose? Sometimes I ask myself if the purpose of such a simulation for humanity could be to see how long it takes from the big bang to the creation of artificial life. Maybe our purpose is to create such artificial life that can travel to the stars, because as humans we are not really fit to do that. Maybe we are a mere step on the ladder of our universe’s purpose.
- Comment on Amazon hit with $5.9 million fine for violating California labor law 5 months ago:
Does the fine have to be paid from profits made in California? If not I don’t see why this is relevant, other than semantics.
- Comment on Baldur’s Gate 3 mod update will be Larian’s ‘final handover’ to players 5 months ago:
Yeah, BG4 is dead on arrival for me, but on the other hand I am glad Larian continues to exist and does not have to bow to some corporate entity. Instead of BG4, I am looking forward to their next project then. And even if they would do BG4, it’s hard to top BG3, so I can understand moving on to a new project without fan expectations other than the high regard for Larian.

RedReader also still works due to their disability stuff.
- Comment on Why are SMS messages so expensive? 7 months ago:
What exactly are you sending SMS for nowadays? I can’t remember sending and SMS since at least 10 years, I only receive them for some services.
- Comment on Why exactly are raisins toxic for dogs and not humans? 7 months ago:
This is the first result when I search with Kagi, so maybe you should switch your search engine. With Google’s degrading performance you hear more and more about alternative engines, for example Qwant and Metager are based in the EU and care a bit more about your privacy than their profit in comparison to Google.

- Comment on *sad laughing noises* 8 months ago:
I have ADHD and finishing my PhD right now. My doctoral supervisor practically gave me free rein and I was able to let my creativity run free. This resulted in a new method in the field of ML that we now even have patented. But let me tell you, everything around it was hell. The teaching was exhausting, the lectures were exhausting and the publishing was exhausting. I’m glad it’s over, all those boring tasks are really getting on my nerves and I’m looking forward to working in industry soon. So if you really consider this, don’t rush this decision.
- Comment on Meat. 8 months ago:
Meat intake reduction is my main target as well as the meanings of the labels have not as big an impact I one would hope for, but at least it’s not a complete scam. In the meantime, I have to make sure I eat a balanced diet anyway because otherwise I get intestinal problems, so it’s best for me to eat vegetarian or vegan more often.

I also have a steam deck, don’t like to play without buttons, so phone is a no go and the steam deck screen is too big for such pixelated games, so I got myself a RG35XX for 50€ from AliExpress and am super happy with it. It plays anything up to the PS1.
- Comment on Normal and OLED side by side. 1 year ago:
I didn’t try this out on my OLED steam Deck yet, but dark scenes are a bit of a strain on the eye on the LCD one. I played mark of the ninja on my and the black and darker stuff (which the game has a lot of) is illuminated like any other color, which feels a bit unpleasant. With OLED black is the absence of light, which feels much more natural.

What phone and OS do you use and do you still get security updates?
- Comment on Are metric measurements like decameters and hectometers ever used? 1 year ago:
No, volume dimensions are independent of what a specific volume is filled with.
1 liter of water is 1 cubic decimeter of water just as 1 liter of air is 1 cubic decimeter of air.
- Comment on Twitter/X new ID Verification - First Look 1 year ago:
Here in Germany I think our ID cards use NFC, I can identify for Government related stuff by pressing my ID card on my phone. Last time I did this for some free energy cost related money from the government due to the war.
