Sorry, I forgot the dev added that feature

Here is a post discussing this
- Comment on How are Americans so outgoing and extroverted and how can I become the same? 1 week ago:
It helps to have a “script” for interactions. Small talk is often the same formula of topics repeated in different situations. Learn to ask questions, but have answers to those same questions ready if you are asked. Don’t get too personal or deep with it, small talk is meant to be pleasant but shallow.
- Comment on If you HAD to choose 1 week ago:
Do I get three McChickens if the family goes? Because I already lost the family, and I didn’t get a voucher or anything
- Comment on RIP obsolete tech 2 weeks ago:
I requested my medical records from my time in the military in 2014 and received them on CD. Which was funny because I didn’t have a computer that could read them at the time, and I still haven’t read them. Turns out the information i needed was already available to the people giving my c&p exam
- Comment on Back up off my nuts 2 weeks ago:
I did that around the 2020 election and got a very sad text back that a real human sends those texts and didn’t deserve the “abuse”
So if anyone is wondering, 'fuck off" worked great in rural America years ago. Maybe it still does, because I didn’t get any local calls last year asking for my money and vote
- Comment on What is iNaturalist? The citizen science app playing an unlikely role in Erin Patterson’s mushroom murder trial 3 weeks ago:
Man, everything I’ve read about how she went about this is insane. The fact that she went through with it knowing her ex wasn’t going to be there anyway is extra insane

It’s a spider chrysanthemum. I’m not sure if this image is edited or if it’s a clever angle though

He’s got no fucking neck!
- Comment on How would I describe myself? 1 month ago:
“Chilean-French with a few stops between”, so you don’t need to explain your life story unless someone is curious? If I understand French well enough, that is just a twist on what you said.
- Comment on Is there a good way to buy chrome lettering in the same font as the brand's original lettering on the back of the car? 2 months ago:
Do you need it to be raised lettering? If not, that seems like a very simple thing that anyone with a cricut or silhouette could make. Maybe search Etsy for custom decals if you don’t know anyone personally with one of those machines
- Comment on Nothing against disabled people but how come I can't replace my arm with something augmented that can carry more weight? Also other parts? My disabled bro asked me this and got me thinking 2 months ago:
As someone who recently started needing wheels, much of the world isn’t really built for that. Lots of uneven flooring in buildings, stairs, thresholds, spaces too narrow to traverse, etc. I get stuck often lol
- Comment on Which Federal Programs Are Under Scrutiny? The Budget Office Named 2,600 of Them. 3 months ago:
I don’t understand how Trump can cut a lot of these by executive order. From what I can tell, any actions for the Departments need to go through their secretary? And those actions are subject to federal appeals. I’m not well versed in law, and might just be dreaming that things will work out
- Comment on GTFO 4 months ago:
Nitrogen as a gas (N2) has a triple bond to another nitrogen. Those are the hardest bonds to break. CO2 has strong double bonds to oxygen, but those are easier to break. Bacteria and fungi are able to split nitrogen and supply it to plant roots in exchange for carbon (sugars) in symbiotic relationships.
Side note, but we’re starting to see the exchange rates of nitrogen and carbon shift, because plants are now absorbing/exchanging so much carbon from the air
- Comment on GTFO 4 months ago:
Green light isn’t absorbed by green plant leaves, it’s reflected. The pigments in leaves do absorb waves on either side of green, which is why those blue+red lights are used

It’s still not much if you live in one of the seven states still paying the $7.25/hr federal minimum

I did my best to take a cat home today when I was at the local landfill. I don’t even have space for another cat, it’s just freezing here and he looked extra pathetic. He decided the dumpster was safer and u honestly can’t blame him xD

My undergraduate tuition at a state public university is under 10k a year. I was severely injured in the military though, so the government pays my bill.
What you see in the news is the result of predatory practices and people not being able to use their degrees in a profitable way. There’s a lot of jokes about philosophy programs and art history degrees being a pipeline to working in fast food, because often the only way to use those degrees is to get more education (more loans) so you can teach the subject.

I’ll take the one with less maintenance anyway. I wouldn’t even need to buy the battery for this because that’s the same one my lawnmower uses

My neighbor will blow them into my driveway (which is higher than his so it’s a never ending battle) and then he’ll walk between my house and the house on his other side blowing leaves to the other side of the street. He wastes so much gas every day, I would find it funny if it weren’t infuriating. Like, who the heck even buys gas leaf blowers anymore?

This looks a lot like the cheap heater design for homeless people that’s been going around. That one uses ethanol and copper tubing instead of fat and a wick

I took a local fauna class last year, we had to collect about 25 specimens and identify them. My professor stressed to not collect moss because it’s a pita to identify. Naturally, I collected some after a rain shower. She spent the rest of the semester trying to identify it lol

They requested a takedown before talking to the website owners? That’s such a hostile move
- Comment on SHINY 5 months ago:
I wonder if they were tortoise beetles? They look gold until you spook them, then they turn a brownish orange. But they are super shiny. Could also have been a type of wood borer, some of the green ones look gold when the light hits right
