Maybe I don’t watch enough movies, but after stumbling on the third Venom movie while it was on Netflix, I might honestly consider it the worst movie I’ve seen in the last 10 years.

Speaking from US perspective, our tax code is a few thousand pages. I don’t think it’s meant for most people to understand.
That said, yeah the effective tax rate being a larger percent of one’s income than the income from a second job is probably something that would be understood by most if stated differently.

That vision ability to see people’s names from Death Note would be helpful for avoiding those awkward social interactions where someone is talking to me but I’ve completely forgotten who they are.

I can’t remember which movie, but some basic rom-com. Girl was in a fight with her ex and trying to make him feel bad said, “I gave you the best years of my life.” And dude, utterly confused, responds, “those were your best?” The movie was forgettable, but that absolutely savage line stuck with me.

Be engineer, draw pictures with numbers next to it that mean that your picture is important. Give picture to someone who agrees that your picture is important and presses on your picture with a stamp. Then give your picture to people that don’t work at desks to make a thing that looks like your important picture.

- Comment on are "brush" and "blush" really pronounced differently? i pronounce them the same. 4 months ago:
Totally fair. I only started paying attention after hearing a podcast about how the letter “D” is pronounced in names in some other cultures. I was doing it wrong. It was a similar issue with position of the tongue when saying words like “dentist” compared to “dog”.
- Comment on are "brush" and "blush" really pronounced differently? i pronounce them the same. 4 months ago:
Reading differences in pronunciation can be difficult, but in regard to tongue placement when saying these words, when saying “blush”, the tip of the tongue should press against the inside of the top-front teeth. When saying “brush”, the tongue should curl back and lightly press on the inside right and left side of the back teeth.
- Comment on Why Are People Surprised When Trump Actually Follows Through? 5 months ago:
When he said that he could grab women “by the pussy”, he followed through with it when he raped E Jean Carroll. But when he said that he “could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody”, I don’t think that he has so far.
It seems that his voters are thinking that he’s not serious about the murder thing, but it’s okay if he’s serious about the rape thing, when it’s quite likely that he’s serious about both.

- Comment on How is anime and manga more popular than comics and western cartoons? 9 months ago:
I don’t have any idea really, but one possible contributing element is the speed of delivery. My understanding (possibly incorrectly) is that western comics are more commonly delivered on a one book per month cycle, whereas Manga delivers a lot more content in the same time period. Part of this production time can probably be attributed to coloring time (Western comics color every panel vs Manga printed in mostly black and white).
There’s also the accessibility of Manga and anime, having relatively newer characters without the burden of decades of backstory (not accounting for One Piece). Running an anime with (mostly) similar story line helps to bring potential new readers up to speed quickly with Manga, whereas the animated adaptations of western comics often seem to pick specific story arcs of comics, or make up entirely new stories.

A ban on fracking might not be the best solution if you want to move the technology towards something more beneficial to the fight against climate change.

- Comment on I just got out of the shower. what is with the product placement ? 11 months ago:
I don’t know if those companies had any say in whether their products were used, but this wasn’t supposed to be for advertising. It was supposed to be a gimmick for what was stated to be a message on the economy, but the orange atrocity personified saw a squirrel and the whole address ended up being the same whiny bullshit.

I did not assert that the court gave full immunity for all things, but will now suggest that not every crime is a violation of the constitution, or could not be committed while carrying out a function of the constitution.

- Comment on Cloudflare Employee records her final meeting where HR tries to fire her 1 year ago:
I’ll take this into consideration the next time I look for a new position. I’ve never been on the side of performing or requesting a background check on a potential employee, but have almost always been asked why I left my previous employer when I’ve interviewed for a new position. Thanks internet friend.
- Comment on Cloudflare Employee records her final meeting where HR tries to fire her 1 year ago:
Seems like it would also have the effect of making the employee less appealing to any potential future employers. When asked in an interview why they left their previous job, these people have to decide whether to say honestly that they were let go because of mismanagement and risk their possible new job on whether the background check includes a call to the HR department of your last employer, or give the line that would match the HR record and say they were fired for poor performance. Either way is going to make it pretty hard to get hired, and so if Cloudflare ever needs to hire again in the future, there’s a decent chance these people will still be seeking employment.
