- Comment on what should I consider before buying winter running gloves? 3 days ago:
I don’t run in gloves often because I’m so much warmer when I’m running than I am when I’m walking or standing outside. I generally dress as if it were 20 degrees warmer than it is, but it can be problematic for the first bit of a run. What I’ve found works best for me is running a short loop that comes back to my house in an easy to remove jacket, hat, and gloves that I can drop off at the door on my way past then continuing with the bulk of my run. In these cases any old gloves will do. When I do wear gloves for the full run, I wear a pair of thin, but insulated gloves from Heat that I got at Costco. They have silver in the fingers, so I can use my phone. It’s more difficult than without the gloves, but it’s not like I’m using my phone much mid run anyway.

I appreciate that the junction box is labeled. There’s a switch in my hallway that does nothing and has baffled me for years until I fixed an exhaust fan in the attic and found “hall switch” scrawled in Sharpie on a random junction box cover.

A few years ago, I started a sentence in my class with “When I was born”. A student instantly chimed in and said “What in the 19’s?” And I thought in my head, of course you idiot, everybody is born in the 19’s. It still haunts me.

I immediately recognized that the two signs were just swapped then proceeded to struggle immensely to read it even knowing the order it should be in.

I think you’re right that they regurgitate food for their young like most birds. A unique puke related vulture fact is that they projectile vomit at predators as a deterrent and means of dropping weight to flee after they’ve been gorging on a carcass.

If he can play a stapler, he can be a pregnant Asian woman too!
- Comment on ‘Severance’ Season 2 Finally Gets First Footage as Adam Scott Returns to Lumon — With Balloons 5 months ago:
I don’t mean that every show is only worth two seasons, but I think a second season that focuses on Helly would be able to wrap things up nicely. I tend to prefer miniseries or 2-4 season shows, after that I really start to struggle with stories being forced for the sake of having an established audience, and I’d rather move on.

I’m so ready for this, but I hope that it only has one more season. I hate nothing more than watching shows drag on until they become unprofitable and die.

Great tip! That one says it’s unsupported on my platform, but I’ll try to find another. It will certainly be a QoL update.

I ditched Chrome for Firefox about a year ago. On desktop, it’s been a seamless transition, although I occasionally still open Chrome to inspect webpages that I’m working on. On mobile however, I find myself missing many features that the Chrome mobile browser had, especially sharing images directly to other apps and viewing sports scores/schedules directly in the Google search results.

I’ve been seeing the sentiment a lot lately about Reddit comment sections devolving into tropes. Maybe I’m crazy, but I don’t recall seeing that so much as time went on. Especially the the “this” comment that so many people have referenced. I feel like that comment in particular was getting plenty of hate on Reddit itself. Subredditsasahashtag were definitely a thing, but I didn’t find them particular disruptive. Especially being able to skip to the next parent comment.
A that being said, what I most hope for Lemmy comment sections is subjects matter experts who provide additional jumping off points for additional expiration of the original post’s topic.

I agree with this. I find myself often let down when I read a post and reflexively go to the comments for more information only to find one or two comments. I’ve been trying to comment more as a result.
