I only use Gog, and the good thing is, as you wrote, I CAN take my stuff and just leave, not that I would have any reason to at the moment.
Well, I do have other accounts like Steam and Ubisoft, but that’s only about ten games in total. Stopped buying there a long time ago when I realised I can’t backup my purchases and have to use their platforms to play.
I do miss out on many AAA titles, but seriously, they don’t appeal to me anymore. And I can wait until they drop on gog eventually.
But I don’t really see the problem in multiple accounts. If not owning is not a problem for someone why should he/she care?
- Comment on Slay The Princess gets three new chapters and more when The Pristine Cut releases 24th October 1 month ago:
I bought it blind on gog when it was on sale, visual novels aren’t my thing usually, but it did not have the anime look so I thought I gave it a try and drop it after half an hour.
Turns out it was one of the most impressive games I played these last years. What a mindfuck!
And the ending warmed my cold heart!
So I wanted to watch a review on YouTube, and what! The! Fuck! I had no idea how different (and gruesome) this game could get! Soon it’s holiday time, and it’s on my top list of things to do! Let’s see how I can fuck things up!
- Comment on What are some game series you would like to see revived? And if possible, which entry should the new game follow from? 2 months ago:
Nonono, that’s it!!! I totally missed the link :)
After fiddling with my original CDs back two years I gave up and installed these! Wide-screen, stable, high resolutions, perfect! I was so happy fans decided to get them running again!

A friendly reminder to everyone: there is a fan project, part 1 and 2 updated to run on modern systems. They have their own page, the full games can be downloaded from there, and they just work. Just Google the title and fan update.

If you are a European Citizen, sign it. It takes a minute of your time. Not more.
- Comment on Gothic, Risen, and Elex Dev "Piranha Bytes" Reportedly the Latest Embracer Studio to Shut Down 4 months ago:
Oh man, I hope so!
I prefer their games over anything Bethesda/Diablo/whatever stuff.
Their games, as clunky and weird they sometimes are, have soul and passion. I’m playing Risen 2 at the moment, and I just love the world. So much too see, every corner has something to find, even if it’s just a bottle of Rum.

This is one of those movies where you can examine a scene and immediately have ideas how to improve it, be it dialogue, a cut, or maybe pacing. I enjoyed the movie, but like I said before, in a weird way.
It definitely was interesting.

The deja vu train scene was well done, everything before and after was a chain of missed opportunities. What a weird experience this was.
- Comment on Doom: The Dark Ages is introducing big changes to combat because id Software came to one core realization: "Every projectile mattered in the original Doom" 5 months ago:
I lowered the difficulty, and I were able to kill bigger enemies with the weapon of my choice. But they became bullet sponges. There’s no fun in that. I too prefer 2016, I like my shotgun.

Rated PG. It can work (The old Mortal Kombat movie), but this looks like crap.

Well, time to get Witcher 3 installed again…
- Comment on I just want to play my game... 6 months ago:
You’re absolutely right, what pisses people of is that you can’t do shit without launchers today anymore, except for gog.
The Discs are yours, regardless if it’s a license or not, they just work whatever the publisher says.
Always on, Games as a service and game launchers and all that shit is a cancer that has to be cured.
- Comment on I just want to play my game... 6 months ago:
Well, they will kill the servers sooner or later, and you won’t be able to play it ever again.
Except you look for other ways, maybe you’re in luck.

If anyone can tell me how to get rid of the bar at the bottom, that would be nice. I don’t need a taskbar or a line, it’s a fucking tablet.
I takes a few millimetres of real estate, it sucks.

Isn’t that this Windows imitation I sometimes hear about?
(I have a death wish I guess)
But on a serious side: I need an easy to use Linux system next year for my parents who are not very tech savvy. Do you have a recommendation for easy use that feels like Windows? It will only be used for browsing, open office and stuff.

New games without bugs are always a good thing.
I’m not excited just because my backlog is huge, I maybe play this in about ten years when it has gotten a bit smaller.
That’s the problem, there are too many games and so little time. But I agree, this doesn’t seem to be the next unfinished buginfested piece of shit but actually worth it’s money.
If you would now excuse me, I’ve got to get back to Arx Fatalis. Backlog…

- Comment on What's your favorite game you played this year? (Doesn't have to be released this year ) 10 months ago:
Days Gone, since it just released on gog and I wanted to give a triple a title another shot. It turned out to be pretty good, fun driving and gameplay, and the hordes were terrifying.
Also I was amazed how well this game was running, 4k 144hz butter smooth on a 4070. Kudos to the developers!

I sadly don’t have the time nor the nerves to fight my PC, but I sincerely hope that intel GPUs become a force on the market to consider in the future, prices from the big two are way too high, competition might change that.

When I was a teenager I played the newest games too, so I won’t judge. Privilege of the young. Today my time is scarce, so I have the luxury of carefully choosing my titles, and I choose DRM free. But back then I would have “needed” to play the newest Assassin’s Creed.
- Comment on Valve is now reversing VAC bans due to AMD drivers in CS2, according to patch notes 1 year ago:
That’s extremely interesting, thank you!!
Nowadays the only platform I buy my games from is gog, I made the right choice it seems.
But people who need to play the newest games don’t really have a choice.
- Comment on Valve is now reversing VAC bans due to AMD drivers in CS2, according to patch notes 1 year ago:
The creepy thing is there is a possibility you can loose everything you bought in the worst case, maybe forever, without you being at fault. This time it ended ok, but who knows what’s on the horizon.
With GOG I have all my games backed up thanks to DRM free policy, but with Steam…
