- Comment on Sometimes when I say danke (thanks or thank you) some of my friends will say (and the spelling is wrong but it's as close as I can get) they will say danata or maybe it's dinata. 3 months ago:
Very good point, in hindsight I should probably have clarified I was focusing on the written form when I replied

Just as an additional tidbit, it’s the same in Portuguese as well!
- Comment on With Nintendo Switch Online having emulators like gba and 64 etc. Would you play those versions or would you continue to emulate those games on another device? 5 months ago:
The way companies try and upsell retro games rarely ever wins me over, so I just stick to emulation 99% of the time. I’m a technical user and I have no qualms with pirating unrealistically priced or hard to access content, so the barrier of entry is basically zero to me. The only collections and such that catch my eye are the ones with additional QoL features, good supplementary material, stuff like that. I don’t even mean basic features like filters, scaling options, save states or rewinding, RetroArch probably does it better anyway, I mean things I wouldn’t be able to get otherwise like added difficulty settings or expanded content.
The perfect examples of what I’m looking for are things like Atari 50 and The Making of Karateka. Unrealistic to expect of most, granted, but the gold standard as far as I’m concerned. A good, more vanilla example is the Mega Man Battle Network collections, since they have proper online play and content that was previously Japan only.

Can confirm I’ve gotten AC3 to work on a deck using Lutris, basically just had it hold my hand through the process and it worked just fine as far as I remember
- Comment on how do you even use twitter? 7 months ago:
I haven’t really used Twitter much but Mastodon does allow you to follow tags, which is basically what you have in mind

Pretty much the one upside of living where I do is ISPs couldn’t care less haha
Appreciate the heads-up anyway, very much relevant to a good portion of the folks who might stumble upon my comment :)

Ah, my bad. I’m so used to it all that I can’t help but spit out jargon with no context sometimes 😅
I’m referring to apps like Sonarr, which basically keeps an eye on torrent/usenet providers and downloads episodes for you automatically. So you tell it you want some show, optionally set the quality you want it at, and it takes care of everything so that the episodes just show up on Jellyfin/Plex after they air and it grabs them. There’s also Radarr for movies and a whole bunch of related ones.

Add the *arr apps into the mix and you get super low effort pirating, legit changed my life when I set it all up lol
- Comment on Videogames in dreamland. Have you, while dreaming, played one, watched one being played or became a videogame character? 9 months ago:
Videogames are a huge part of my life, so my dreams often feature them. I have a very vivid memory of “playing” some character in a side scrolling platform my dreams cooked up and it having what my dream self registered as actually pretty believable physics haha. I’m often conscious too, so I tend to notice things like that.
