Yes! I think we might even have 500 to 1000 EUR more than we spend this month, so we can save that for next months. A lot of these are one-time donations, so I’ll have to see how much we’ll have next month, I’ll keep you updated on the blog.

The 1700/mo is for all instances we host, with around 30k active users/mo. (If every active user would pay 1 euro per year, it would cover the costs) But it can’t be compared to Reddit. Reddit has employees. Employees cost more than infra. If I would pay myself and all the volunteers for the work we put in, the cost would be at least 10 times what it is now.

Yes GH is a good way, but I’m sure you can use $ on Patreon as well?
- Comment on September 2025: Updates for the .worlds and call for donations 1 week ago:
No for bank transfer there’s no bottom limit
- Comment on September 2025: Updates for the .worlds and call for donations 1 week ago:
Yes it will work. And this way there will be no fees.

The FHF is the foundation owning all instances (fedihosting.foundation/hosted/). So the costs are for running all the .world instances. The contribution to FHF is the costs for running the non-profit foundation itself.
The Patreon was setup when mastodon.world was the only instance… haven’t renamed it yet.

Payments are handled by Stripe or Paypal for both platforms so that doesn’t matter

Nice work. Good thing we can have communities migrated now.
- Comment on .world censorship? 5 months ago:
I would say if there’s a word that’s censored which you think shouldn’t, let us know.
- Comment on .world censorship? 5 months ago:
Ah yes, the slur filter. That’s been there since the start.
- Comment on .world censorship? 5 months ago:
Censor function? What’s that?

Yes there is an issue with the Mlym container (old.lemmy.world), we have now stopped it because it also slowed the other alternative UI’s. We’ll troubleshoot this.
- Comment on What happened with active users on Lemmy? 1 year ago:
It would have been better if they communicated to us first. I don’t disagree that user signups should be spread over instances. We now have a link to lemmyverse.net on our signup page so people can check if another instance would fit them better.
- Comment on Can't create community 1 year ago:
The community already existed but was deleted by the creator. I have purged that and you can now create it again.

Could you mail info@lemmy.world from the mail address used for the account? Thanks!
- Comment on Lemmy.ml & Lemmy.world not federating, no issues with Lemmy.world not federating with Mastodon 2 years ago:
Either post here or mail to info@lemmy.world, and if it’s really urgent you could try to reach me via Matrix @ruud:h-y-p-e-r.space. Also for Moderators there’s the Discord channel if you’re interested
- Comment on Lemmy.ml & Lemmy.world not federating, no issues with Lemmy.world not federating with Mastodon 2 years ago:
@nutomic@lemmy.ml contacted me about an issue with federation, seems we blocked an IP too many in our attempt to block malicious requests… I’ve removed that block and federation works again. Sorry about the inconvenience.
- Comment on Lemmy.world: why not focusbon stability instead of growth? 2 years ago:
No problem, it’s good to ask those questions. Sometimes we also learn from them. The outages of last days were because of database queries that took very long, which were fired many times. This is being looked into.
- Comment on Lemmy.world: why not focusbon stability instead of growth? 2 years ago:
The downtime is not related to user growth. We do however plan to change our registration page, so it will refer to other instances and explain Federation in short. New users will be advised to choose other instances but will still have the option to sign-up here if they would like.
But all the troubleshooting these downtimes hasn’t left a lot of time to work on this…
- Comment on The lemmy bubble is back 2 years ago:
I agree that should be added. But I meant for now, permanent ban without deleting content is the closest to that. Other than that, the only option is to delete your account which should delete the posts too. (But even that doesn’t always work…)
- Comment on The lemmy bubble is back 2 years ago:
I think I could ban your account without deleting content, but maybe that’s not what you want?

So the post from .wtf will arrive here but the yeehaw comments won’t
