  Double checked, and I was right. It lists the requirements as being a natural born citizen, being 35 years old, and having been a resident of the US for at least 14 years.

  All the original metric definitions (except seconds I think, but guess what imperial shares exactly) were extremely arbitrary, either relying on assumptions later shown to be false (such as exactly how earth curved) or varied enough to make the units imprecise during sensitive enough measurements (every definition that included water). Those problems have since been corrected, but imperial has also since been defined in terms of metric so the same can equally be said of it.

  Oh to be clear, imperial sucks and everyone would be better off just adopting metric, I’m mostly just arguing it doesn’t suck as much or in as many ways as you seem to think.

  The foot is no less arbitrary than the meter. If you are just unfamiliar with the unit and confused by the fact it’s named after something often close in size to it that’s fine, but keep in mind for a while a meter was defined as the length of a specific metal rod, same as the foot and yard.

  Maybe, but I doubt it, just on the grounds that the Forge modloader has its share of controversy.

  1994 had at least 360 games for the SNES alone. Include PC games and it becomes basically impossible to find actual numbers because of poor archival and sheer volume. Yes, there are more games today, by at least a few orders of magnitude, but there has always been a large volume of frankly slop.

  Sekiro is the exception to that, but that’s more on FromSoft than it is on Activision, to the extent that it actually hadn’t registered in my mind that Activision was involved with that game at all.

  Genuine question, what was the last time Blizzard released an actually good game, much less a new good game? Because by my reckoning it was over a decade ago with Overwatch, and that leaves me with exactly zero expectation that anything they could make would be with the time to play it.

  If they don’t integrate Proton as part of this to allow all those Windows games to just work, and then also don’t subsequently make at least a token effort to contribute to Proton’s codebase, this isn’t enough for me to care. On the other hand, if they do actually do both of those things I may be willing to end my nigh on a decade boycott of their services.

  My concern here is less about enforcement and more about getting the law passed and through the court system in the first place.

  They definitely have some effect, simply because they push prices up.

  For the last point, it is easier to tax unfavored behavior into the ground than it is to outright forbid it. That’s why sin taxes exist after all.

  The advice I got was the other way around, that you need to remove the Linux disk while installing Windows to protect the bootloader from the Windows installer.

  Let non-members represent themselves during contract negotiations, or be represented by the union if they are a member. The problem with non-members getting the same benefits as members is that there’s no motivation to be a member in the first place, which means the union has less funds and less negotiating power.

  First, I absolutely see people in wheelchairs on the light rail where I live, that’s mostly a problem for cities where the rail system predates the ADA. Second, I’m very much not forgetting those people, partly because less traffic helps them as much as any driver, and even more because it’s simply naive to imagine that the majority of people with disabilities are able to drive but not able to take a bus or train.
