I understand your take and mostly agree with you. I just want to emphasize I’m not trying to call anyone a dummy or anything, just that it’s OK to like what you like.
If companies aren’t going to cater to you, yeah that’s annoying in most scenarios.

If you ordered a cookie and didn’t get what you want, that sucks and is indeed frustrating.
However I don’t know what that has to do with anyone else. If someone wants to eat an almost raw cookie, or a too soft cookie or whatever, I don’t think that should bother you.

Can someone ELI5 how searx works and if it’s worth the hassle of hosting? I’m privacy conscious but not paranoid.

I think the world is better off with the decline of tobacco but I used to spend time in East Germany and they used to have cigarette machines right on the street. My Oma would send me down with 5 marks to pick her up a pack.

Without having watched the video, my knee jerk reaction is the internet was ruined a long time ago, the LLMs are another symptom of a greater issue.

Uh im not trying to argue, I was just contributing to the community. Try to assume best intent sometimes bud, might lower your blood pressure.
I’m not on the remake design team, but I did give an example of what I think is good about a remake, in case you didn’t get to 4th grade reading.

I don’t give a shit about having a remake but it’s not always about just mind blowing graphics. It can be about accessibility, quality of life changes, adjustments and new content.
The diablo 2 remake is cool because it was getting more and more difficult to run the original on new hardware. They even added new rune words and sets I think, which is nice.
- Comment on Movie Trailers Are Killing Movies 3 months ago:
It sucks going to the movies, at least for me, so that doesn’t help. Then the movie trailers themselves are spammed at me in all forms of media like a pop song getting worm out on the radio. I’m interested in seeing the Deadpool Wolverine movie but there are so many dumb ads about it that I’m already a little turned off now.
I’m tired boss.

I think there’s space for artifical company, and I don’t think it’s a bad idea, but I think it best to lead toward getting grounded in reality. We’re social creatures and have a habit of humanizing almost anything.

I’m arguably good at a lot of those things but didn’t want to persue a PhD because you can see the writing on the wall when you’re deep enough into academia. There’s a system in place and boy it can get dark and shitty in a hurry.

- Comment on How Greed Ruined Gaming 5 months ago:
I’m sure there are cases where someone is spending money they shouldn’t, or they know better, but we have to acknowledge that a lot of tactics used are the same predatory strategies that take advantage of human addiction. I don’t think people should gamble, or bet on sports but that shit is everywhere, and it’s normalized. It’s no wonder why so many people fall into it because they don’t think it’s dangerous.
We can scream at people and tell them to stop, but that’s not a real solution, at least I don’t see how that really works. A predatory studio puts out a game that people want to play, then if it fails because people don’t buy enough, they just shut everything down and cancel the content, even when people want it. I think there examples of this happening now.

- Comment on I'm not asking to be rich. 10 months ago:
IMO the saying is more about how when you eliminate the struggle to acquire wealth, there’s less meaning in your day to day life. I’m sure folks like Musk and Bezos for example are looking for something that makes them feel purposeful, like going into space. Not necessarily trying to enrich the lives of others.
I agree though that not having to worry about bills or putting food on the table is it’s own kind of happiness. I think there’s a healthy balance.
- Comment on I'm not asking to be rich. 10 months ago:
I never said you didn’t, but to clarify, usually you don’t have to say it when you’re happy. I guess unless you’re doing the song and clapping your hands.

- Comment on Could we improve men’s mental health? 1 year ago:
Yikes, if this is really your worldview, it seems pretty small and is dismissive of a lot of realities that both men and women live in. To be clear, I’ve tried to parse what you’re saying, and generally it seems you’re calling out symptoms of an issue where the conclusion is men are “built different”. It would be nice if life were so black and white.

Listen, I see from what you said, what your worldview and values are, and I’m here to remind you that they’re wrong.
