- Comment on Is the RNC and DNC monopolies? 2 months ago:
It’s not really “established” becaue there isnt any formal body declaring what names different voting systems have.
That is the most pompous way to say “I have never heard of political science”.
Are you unclear about what recognition other demcracies give to parties, how there is no prize for 2nd place in America, or why that lack of such a prize gives rise to a two-party system?
This is the most pompous way to say “I am unaware that lots of countries on this planet have district based systems”.

it’s established terminology. I’m sure you have feelings about the term, but I’m not really invested in them either way.

I’m not sure what you are referring to

Many countries have first-past-the-post elections, and there usually we don’t see the mortal lock of three two major party like we see in the U.S. in the UK for example we have regional parties (SNP, DUP, etc) and lib Dems/greens that win seats and send people to Westminster.
The main problem as far as I can see is that campaigning in the US is very expensive, and third parties have problems raising the cash needed to make a dent in elections for Congress, let alone statewide office.
To frame it in economic terms, it’s a market with a high barrier to entry that has evolved a duopoly. In that aspect it’s not too dissimilar to cable companies etc.

I got up to judo brown belt as a teen and it had saved my ass countless times. Not in fights, but in silly ass falls. Having good instincts when falling is a lifesaver.

China is so salty that karate can’t survive the age of the Internet they are blackballing it’s critics.
Karate is Japanese, mr Sensei sir.
- Comment on Is martial arts really that useful? 2 months ago:
It’s a sport. It’s not meaningfully more useful than other sports.
If you want something that’s genuinely useful in a confrontation, give up the fantasy of beating people up. Every time you fight you run a very real risk of incurring permanent harm or worse. Instead, sign up for track and learn and practice how to run away really fast.
TLDR: fighting not good. Not fighting, good.

Academic security research is constitutionally bad because academia as an environment selects people with a “hacker mentality” out at the freshman stage.
It’s inherently biased towards rule-followers. That’s not a bad thing, but it means it’s bad at some things. Such as computer security research.

In this case the equivalent joke would be a holocaust joke, which would probably get you fired even faster.

If you want the neat robot to work for you, you need to pay the upkeep for the neat robot.
That includes power (food), repairs (health insurance) and upgrades (education).
If you can’t afford that, you can’t afford to have a meat robot on your staff.

- Comment on When and why did democrats begin supporting fracking? 3 months ago:
The argument given back in the day was “energy independence”.
The options (simply put) were 1) give money to shady middle eastern dictators 2) drill in ANWAR or 3) innovate in domestic production (fracking).
Renewables were still not up to par and nuclear was not seriously considered because the carbon thing was still an afterthought.
I’m not condoning this shit, I’m just explaining the state of play as I remember it.
