  Yeah that’s fair. I’m pretty low on these Mavs and would bet against them in a re-run of these playoffs, but they’ve certainly made a good case for themselves and initial odds are partly hype-based.

  I’m not sure how to justify those Mavs odds. They had a great run, but will anyone be picking them over the Nuggets or Thunder (or Grizzlies?) next year? I’d expect them to be a 5 or 6 seed.

  The part I can’t handle is that this game wasn’t close. This was a dominant 38 points, not the sort of super intense shooting match that can make someone play above their ability.

  Interesting matchup given the similarly mixed opinions of both these teams. I thought they looked alright. Both teams are taking new approaches on offense, especially Toronto. More movement, but you can tell they’re still getting to know each other.

  I really wasn’t expecting this. Maybe I’m too low on Dame’s and Lopez’s abilities to evolve, but I have a hard time believing their window will last beyond 2025.

  But I guess that doesn’t matter when your salary is this high. Players like this realistically need to move via trade under the new CBA, and Giannis has already used his leverage so there’s not much downside for him.

  I think an important emphasis here is that people shouldn’t accept explanations of the situation that make things easy to understand.

  Tbh I never believed in the Murray experiment, so that may be clouding my view. I don’t think Young is necessarily the problem, I’m just not sure how to build a team around him. The Hawks games I watched last year didn’t impress me much, but maybe the coaching change will be enough!

  I just remembered that they already signed Murray to 4/$120M, which I think kills my trade. Pretty sure he’s not eligible, and I doubt Portland wants that long term money.

  I agree that the PHI/LAC/POR trade is the most obvious right now, but I’m not sure I actually believe it will happen. If Portland is patient some front office will convince themselves they’re contenders and Jrue is a perfect fit for those teams.

  I think Atlanta is an interesting possibility! Jrue and Snyder would be a fun combo, but I’m not sure if Portland would want Murray.

  Yeah, this is not an obvious move for the Suns. After their big trades I was pretty worried about their depth, and I can see why this move would appeal to them, sort of? At least they’re getting a mix of youth and experience, with decent upside.

  If internally they’ve given up on Ayton for reasons we don’t know about, maybe it’s not the worst trade in the world. Certainly not the best. Little and Johnson are interesting. I’m really curious about what Ayton’s value will be in a year.

  But none of that changes the guns for hire feeling. Being a fan is hard in the analytics era, as much as I enjoy it.
