Bench seats were in cars too! In the early 2000s I had a 1987 Chevy Caprice Classic. That thing was a boat with a couch for a front seat.

I only use voice to interact with my phone when I’m driving and want to set a destination, or if I’m at home and can’t find my phone.
Somehow I doubt that AI will help tell me my phone fell off the nightstand and is half way under the bed.

If you haven’t seen it, find the Galaxy Quest documentary - it’s a delight.

I know it doesn’t exist, but I would love it if the Galaxy Quest “Fuck This” release would come out.

I’d say it was weird, not shit. It was hard to find niche sites, but once you did they tended to be super deep into the hobby, sport, movies, or games.
SEO (search engine optimization) was probably the first step down this path, where people would put white text on a white background with hundreds of words that they hoped a search engine would index.

I’ve tried using an LLM for coding - specifically Copilot for vscode. About 4 out of 10 times it will accurately generate code - which means I spend more time troubleshooting, correcting, and validating what it generates instead of actually writing code.
- Comment on The past 18 months have seen the most rapid change in human written communication ever 3 weeks ago:
I was just commenting on how shit the Internet has become as a direct result of LLMs. Case in point - I wanted to look at how to set up a router table so I could do some woodworking. The first result started out halfway decent, but the second section switched abruptly to something about routers having wifi and Ethernet ports - confusing network routers with the power tool. Any human/editor would catch that mistake, but here it is.
I can only see this get worse.

Tell her, excellent question! Typically I do nasal cavity searches before I inspect the sump pump drain… Typically. I don’t know

Okay, what you do is get one of these bad boys.
Teslong 50FT Sewer Camera, Dual Lens Borescope with Light: a.co/d/5bc14GD
I have the 14 foot variety and it’s glorious. Not only can I gross out friends and family with pictures of my nasal cavity, I can also shove it in long holes like my sump pump drain and see what’s what.

This is what I did. Grabbed UL certified faceplates and a bunch of keystones. Total outlay was probably $50 including drywall/Sheetrock mounting brackets.
- Comment on They just don't understand 2 months ago:
I went all out with Cat6A. I have some 10Gbps capabilities with my home lab, and although I currently do not have any 10GbE copper capable systems, I thought I’d try to go future proof.
My only regret is that I only went with riser grade cable - plenum was way too much, even for plain Cat6.
- Comment on They just don't understand 2 months ago:
I literally just did this over the Christmas break. The drywall mounting outlets are a game changer.

Yes! Freelancer is an amazing (albeit slightly dated) game. It takes some effort to get set up, but it does run quite well on Linux.

Oops, try this - the brand name is Mumba and the ASIN is B07GYXJZRY. They’re ear buds with a metal carrying case for currently $14.36 USD.
- Comment on Good ear protection for concerts. 3 months ago:
I hated loop earplugs - they just did not work for me. These did and we’re significantly cheaper: a.co/d/02gC45R.
They were great at volume lowering while still letting the vocals/mids through, and critically they were comfortable for the entire concert.
- Comment on So this is how my neighbor fixes his fence. 4 months ago:
Yup, having just gone through a fence replacement thing and our city’s building code - of the posts of the fence face your property, it’s your fence. So either this fence was installed improperly and with the posts reversed (probably against code), or the OP is the owner of the shitty fence.
On a side note, the other fence also looks like the posts face in - which means there are two fences on the OPs property - another building code violation where I live.

I’ve been working on the homelab. Just added a kubernetes cluster on some proxmox systems and the next step is to try and migrate/clone my physical raspberry pi based Vault cluster to pods.
