It’s ok to like something, but the world has already chosen their king.

Sources & Context
- Steam Statistics: SQ Magazine (Jan 2026) and SteamDB confirmed a record-breaking 42.04 million concurrent users in January 2026. Steam’s library surpassed 120,000 titles in late 2025.
- PlayStation Performance: Sony reported 123 million MAU in mid-2025 (via Push Square), with the PS5 reaching 90.2 million lifetime units sold by January 2026 (Outlook Respawn).
- Switch 2 Launch: The Switch 2 has reached 17.37 million units sold globally as of February 2026, leading hardware sales in major regions like Asia (Game Developer).
- Xbox Ecosystem: Xbox Game Pass reached 40 million subscribers in early 2026. While official hardware-only MAU is rarely split, ecosystem-wide engagement remains high due to cloud expansions in 29+ countries including India and Brazil (Xbox Wire).
- Pricing Trends: AAA games have stabilized at a $70 psychological floor, with “Deluxe” and “Ultimate” editions frequently pushing the $80-$100 range in 2026 (GamesIndustry.biz). Would you like me to draft a summary of the best “bang for your buck” platform for 2026 to add to your post?

From now on I’ll only do Mini PCs with Bazzite / Steam OS.
I’ve been running Bazzite on my 2 gaming PCs and now I bought a GMKTEC K12 while I wait for the Steam Machine. Best console I ever had yet. When the SM releases and I manage to get one, the K12 will be my new server.

I hope it’s not another Sony attempt at a live service game.

Honestly, I hope it flops for what they have done. I’m happy for Arc Raiders, a great example of how they should have done it.

Like a Stadium for games? That’s a really cool idea, I mean they already have the streaming tech, they only have to get their business model right. Easy, right?
Almost guaranteed it can’t fail.

Does anyone know if they have worked on controller & splitscreen support or if it is in the roadmap?
- Comment on Valve's new hardware will NOT be loss leaders 3 months ago:
Cost aside. If they don’t price it competitively between the Xbox and the PS5, the Steam Machine will be DOA.
The Deck is a perfect example of what they should try to replicate. If they don’t do that, it will flop.

Xbox controllers need a Windows PC to update their drivers.
- Comment on When was the last time you actually laughed while playing a game? 3 months ago:
I can’t remember the last time a game made me intentionally laugh. I laughed my ass off about situations, bugs, but… scripted comedy?
Maybe a smile, a faint giggle, but actual laughter? I can’t remember.

Fantastic post as always @perfectDark!
I want to selfhost it but without RetroDeck sync it just isn’t worth the effort just yet at least for me.
Also, now that it can identify the checksums, does it auto organize the ROMs into the required folder structure?
That’s also my 2nd biggest entry barrier.
