- Comment on Jimmy Butler will opt out in 2025 and become a free agent. 2 days ago:
Journalists have been arguing whether the Heat should build around Jimmy (by going all in to win now) or Bam Adebayo (by making long term investments). Jimmy decided for them, it seems (or knows that his days are numbered).
- Comment on OG Anunoby Plans to Sign 5-Year, $212.5M Contract After Bridges Trade 2 days ago:
Presumably the Knicks had to make a trade of that caliber to keep Anunoby. That makes the “win now, suffer later” aspect of it a bit more understandable.
- Comment on Knicks Trading for Mikal Bridges 4 days ago:
This is the Knicks. They are probably assuming that every super star is going to be fighting to play in New York. They have been waiting for the last decade for that assumption to be true. It worked for them in 2011 to get Melo and Stoudemire, it is bound to work again, right?
- Comment on Automation 5 days ago:
That reminds me of the time, quite a few years ago, Amazon tried to automate resume screening. They trained a machine learning model with anonymized resumes and whether the candidate was hired. Then they looked at what the AI was looking at. The model had trained itself on how to reject women.

Could any other team offer him more?
- Comment on NBA Rumors: Pascal Siakam to Sign $189.5M Max Pacers Contract After January Trade 1 week ago:
It is an obvious move for the team. Siakam is worth a max.
- Comment on How many people actually want fully on-site IT jobs? 1 week ago:
Not wanting to work in a crowded home has nothing to do with disliking your family. Kids are loud. They run around the house. They watch TV with the volume set too high. They have excited calls with their friends. Many home builders skimp on noise insulation for interior walls.

I am a Celtics fan, so my opinion is a bit biased, but I would be cheering against Dallas because I hate Jason Kidd.
- Comment on Report: Ty Lue, Clippers Agree to New 'Long-Term Contract' amid Lakers Rumors 4 weeks ago:
Of all the coaches in the league, Lue would be high on my list of expected firings. Not that he is doing a bad job, but the Clippers must know that what they have now is not working. It is much easier to bring in a new coach than it is to bring in a new super star, even if a roster shake up is what they need.
Win or lose, the Clippers are going to need to rebuild soon so signing a win now coach to a long term deal seems like a less than optimal decision.
- Comment on [Game Thread] 27-28 MAY 2024 - Conference Finals Game 4s 4 weeks ago:
The Pacers should have been able to dominate the paint, because they have bigger and stronger players.
If anything, I think the Pacers did a good job resisting doubling. The Celtic’s strategy is to always have many shooters on the court. Normally they would be able to probe the defense to draw a double team and then send the ball around to the uncovered player. To me, it looked like the Pacers kept everyone covered and guarded passing angles. Many of the Celtics possessions ended with the ball handler looking for an opening for 15 seconds and settling for a loosely contested 3.

AI is the future, unfortunately we are eternally stuck in the present.

I could see both teams stealing a game or two to get a gentleman’s sweep.
- Comment on Fuck Draymond Green 4 weeks ago:
Not just losers. Dennis Rodman is in the Hall of Fame. The 90s were a different time. Many of Green’s antics would have ended up with him getting beaten up.
- Comment on Fuck Draymond Green 5 weeks ago:
In general, I don’t like networks featuring active players as analysts. I always take their critique of other players with a grain of salt because they are all competing for the same roster spots. They can hate on a team all they want, but remember: the reason that an active player is working as a play off analyst is because their team lost and the team they are critiquing did not.
But yes, Draymond is a dirty player. I do think he is not Andrew Bynum (who actively injured other players) but more out of control than Metta World Peace.

You have to give them credit for winning despite having Kyrie on their roster.
- Comment on Anthony Davis, Victor Wembanyama, Rudy Gobert Headline 2023-24 NBA All-Defensive Team 5 weeks ago:
Surprised that there are 4 centers in the first term and 4 guards in the second. Was the list always positionless or is that a recent change?
- Comment on NBA Playoffs: Celtics put away Cavaliers to reach 3rd straight Eastern Conference finals - Yahoo Sports 1 month ago:
It was too bad that the Cavs had so many injuries. They were out-hustling the Celtics. It could have been a much closer series.
I am happy that the Celtics advance, nonetheless.
- Comment on 🚨 SUNS FIRE FRANK VOGEL 1 month ago:
I would hope that he could have foreseen this outcome before signing the deal. He accepted a difficult job knowing that he would likely be to blame if it did not work out. He got a lot of money and (I hope he) knew not to bother moving too much stuff to Phoenix.
- Comment on Suns' Mat Ishbia: 26 Other NBA GMs 'Would Trade Their Whole Team for Our Whole Team' 1 month ago:
That leaves the question of what 3 teams he thinks would not take his roster. Denver, presumably, since they have a championship winning roster. Maybe Boston, since they had the best regular season record. OKC has a young team and was the best in the west?
- Comment on Suns' Mat Ishbia: 26 Other NBA GMs 'Would Trade Their Whole Team for Our Whole Team' 1 month ago:
So, he is saying that he has a great group of players but everyone around them (coaches, GM, and all the other people he is hiring) are holding them back? That his players would do better if they leave his team ASAP?
- Comment on Jamal Murray hits insane game winner vs Lakers to eliminate them from playoffs!! 1 month ago:
I don’t see him going to Philly, that team is not getting any younger. I can see him going for a sign and trade or, if he really sees an exceptional opportunity, signing below market (I imagine most of his income is endorsement based).
That makes the Knicks a tempting target. They have a strong young core that can shoulder the regular season so LeBron can focus on his health. New York is the biggest media market in the country, so his sponsors will love it. If he can bring a championship to a large, long suffering fan base, he will help cement his legacy. I assume that the Lakers would rather take a trade of picks and expiring contracts rather lose him for nothing at all.
- Comment on Jamal Murray hits insane game winner vs Lakers to eliminate them from playoffs!! 1 month ago:
What a painful way to get eliminated. I could get even worse for the Lakers if the first round exit convinces LeBron that it is time to move on.

I am happy to see a road win in these playoffs. Always nice to see a young team defeat an established contender.
- Comment on Does The NBA Really Think We’re This Stupid? 2 months ago:
What? Sports referees are biased and are screwing my team? It is a story that started as soon as the first game with a referee was played. Refs are human and make bad calls. They will sometimes make a mistake and overcorrect or make a makeup call. Also, even with perfect refereeing, if you slice the stats enough, you will find bias in random noise.
As for the NBA, there are known biases: if a superstar and bench warmer make contact on a play, the refs will always favor the star. Bigger players are allowed to bang in the paint while smaller players are protected. Refs will only call a blatant charge and never if there is a defense foul on the play. As long as I can remember (20 years), if a player or coach whined about refereeing after the game, they would automatically get a fine but coaches would still do it so that refs favor their team’s next game for fear of providing evidence to the story.
There is always a story that the league is pushing the popular team. Before the Lakers it was the Warriors who the refs favored (it was
infuriatingfun to count how many moving screens Draymond could get away with). - Comment on Watch Draymond Green grabbed Patty Mills by the neck and pulled him to the floor | Streamable 2 months ago:
I agree that Draymond’s arm got stuck (though I cannot figure out what it was doing there in the first place), but I don’t see him making any effort to remove his arm before plowing through.
To me, it looked like Dray was pushing Mills out of the way and ended up with his arm hooked around Mills’ neck. A kind and gentle person, seeing that they were about to smack someone in the throat, would stop and get their arm off the windpipe of their fellow human. A person who was super competitive and trying hard to win would, at least, make an effort to move their arm back and down while running past. In this video, we see the third option: a stiff arm clothesline across the neck.

Harden is trying to shake off his reputation for being a lazy defender by contesting on BOTH ends of the court.
- Comment on Chicago Bulls fans boo Jerry Krause and make his wife cry during Ring of Honor night 5 months ago:
- Why did they boo Krause? Because he blew up the 6 championship roster? I would assume decisions that big are coming from ownership, not the GM.
- Comment on [Wojnarowski, ESPN.com] Draymond: Silver talked me out of retirement 5 months ago:
Green is at all time high in marketability. He puts butts in seats and eyes on the screen whenever he is visiting a team.
- Comment on Woj Bomb: NBA is suspending Golden State’s Draymond Green indefinitely. 6 months ago:
That would be way too long of a suspension if he was not a repeat offender. If they do take his history into account, maybe.
- Comment on Woj Bomb: NBA is suspending Golden State’s Draymond Green indefinitely. 6 months ago:
So how long do you think the suspension will be? Until the end of the week?
Hopefully he will get at least 5 games based on the suspension he just got back from.
