- Comment on Why are vegan and gluten free items more expensive? 2 months ago:
At one time vegan shoes were cheap. And suddenly, everywhere the non-leather shoes disappeared and vegan shoes popped up and were advertised at ridiculous prices. They just changed the wording and adjusted the prices. It’s just a marketing tactic and one they use often for whatever stuff you can buy. It’s not so much that people are willing to pay. It’s just that vegan friendly, decently quality at decent prices are very hard to find now. At least here in the european country where i live.
- Comment on Could an animal be taught how to throw accurately? 3 months ago:
I vaguely recall dolphins and seals being trained to throw a ball through a hoop. Don’t know about the distance though
- Comment on What should I know about using a wheelchair for the first time? 3 months ago:
Maybe you could rent a mobility scooter instead? Some are suitable for indoors (3 wheels) and the speed is adjustable. It might save the use of your arms and hands, which are not used to the movements you need to make
- Comment on Why are you here at this very moment in your life? 1 year ago:
Because of every choice i made and the effect thereof

- Comment on How to tell a girl "I love You" without telling her "I love you"..... 1 year ago:
Or regular pants with (deep) pockets. I know women who shop in the men’s department, solely because of the pockets
- Comment on New post disappears into the void? 1 year ago:
Never mind, i’m being dumb; i hid read posts in my android app last night, but apparently it was a Lemmy setting, not an app setting, so it carried over to the web…

- Comment on Long Haired Men, How Do You Take Care of Your Hair?? 1 year ago:
A receding hairline, apart from genetics, might happen when you tie your hair very, very tight. A loose tail would not be an issue.
- Comment on Will it ever get to a point where data is so over-harvested that it starts to lose value? 1 year ago:
I almost spit out my tea, thanks!
- Comment on How can i know whether a website is a part of the fediverse? 1 year ago:
Yes, but i was hoping for something visible at a glance. Thanks for the link; i had seen it, but forgot about it
- Comment on How can i know whether a website is a part of the fediverse? 1 year ago:
Well, it would be nice if they had something like a setting that is activated by default to show they are part of the federation and when they would want to hide it, to switch it off. I don’t know, not a programmer. You bring up an interesting point though; i did not think of the fediverse as just a way of building your own forum. Thanks for your input

That would be great. Thank you for your answer!

- Comment on if it turned out there was a sentient AI capable of running the world would you accept it or rebell against it? 1 year ago:
It depends. Also, would it let humans give input, for better or for worse?
- Comment on Are straws an unnecessary (but convenient) invention? 1 year ago:
Good thing you mentioned this. I agree, i wouldn’t give these to children.
- Comment on Are straws an unnecessary (but convenient) invention? 1 year ago:
Exactly what i meant! I don’t drink any sugary substances, but the acid is detrimental to one’s teeth.
- Comment on Are straws an unnecessary (but convenient) invention? 1 year ago:
In the rare event i drink soda, i sometimes use a straw because it feels like it doesn’t affect all my teeth as much. Without a straw, it feels like the soda reaches all teeth and molars, while a straw directs it more locally. I once bought some stainless steel straws.
- Comment on Do Multivitamins actually do anything? 1 year ago:
Yes, and so do for instance vitamin A, D, E, and K because those can heap up in fatty tissues. Also, always check your personal circumstances. Dealing with periods for instance can sometimes (not always) make one anemic, so then you might need some supplementation.
- Comment on Do Multivitamins actually do anything? 1 year ago:
Dairy and tea (though i don’t know if herbal teas count) inhibit iron absorption, so it has nothing to do with human values, so to speak :-) If you want to increase absorption, combine it with vitamin C.

Some random thoughts:
-
For vegans it’s adviced to take certain extra vitamins, for instance B12
-
Also, when you are talking about health, i would not underestimate exercise, even a brisk daily walk. I don’t know for sure, but i suspect this will have more impact on our health, than taking multivitamins.
-
As someone else commented here, i think fibre is also very important. And drinking enough healthy fluids.
-
As a personal aside; i did notice a difference when i started supplementing vitamin D. I was surprised to notice that my energy level seemed to go slightly up.
-
Also, never mix iron (not a vitamin btw) with dairy or tea. And take it with some vitamin C
-
Finally, be careful and don’t randomly start to mix and match certain vitamins. For instance, magnesium and calcium have a certain balance, where too much of one will have a negative effect on the other.
